“Forodrim shall with Mundane customs dispense and with those of Middle-earth comply.”
The Forodrim Code, Middle-earth section §3
The Forodrimites endeavour to create a fairy-tale atmosphere. They thus dress in medieval and fairy-tale style, observe medieval rules for courtly behaviour to a certain extent, and use special Forodrim names, so-called aliases. Tolkien's works teem with characters who lend name and guise to the members of Forodrim. The Society's activities are regulated by the Law, a collection of pseudo-feudal rules in the spirit of the Medieval Swedish provincial laws. The purpose of all this is to mark the boundary between the Mundane world and Middle-earth, the world of Faerie.
